Festivals in Singapore

Singapore, “The Land of Merlion” is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The festivals in Singapore are more closed to their culture and lifestyle. In Singaporean Lifestyle, we can see the adaptations of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures. Singapore festivals can be generalized into Fashion, Art and Religious Festivals.

Chinese New Year:

Chinese New Year is held on January or February depending on Chinese calendar. This festival celebrates all over the city. Main attractions are spectacular Chingay Parade, music and dance performances, fireworks and a multitude of other parades.

Hari Raya Puasa:

Hari Raya Pusa held on January or February with three days of celebration. The festival of Eid, known in Singapore as Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Puasa. It is a celebratory occasion following a month of fasting, which is known as Ramadan. In Singapore, it’s the most important Muslim festival.

Deepavali:

Deepavali is one of the most popular and important Hindu holiday held in the Hindu month of Aipasi. It’s the festival of lights. Deepavali in Singapore will be celebrated on 13th November 2012 this year.

Singapore Fashion Festivals:

Singapore Fashion Festival held on March and April. This gives a mind hacking experience of colours, fabrics, and styles. It was considered as most important fashion festival for the International and Local designers in Singapore.

Singapore Art Festivals:

Singapore Art Festival, held in June is a different experience with a mix of film, dance,drama and music from around the world.

Singapore Food Festivals:

Singapore Food Festival is held in July. This gives all information about Singapore cuisine specialities. In Singapore cuisine, we can observe a mixture of Chinese, Indians and Malays food style.
